Yes, we do provide test results if you provide an email, the tick is reported as biting, and it was positive for disease. If you do not provide us an email and/or the tick is tested negative for diseases, we will not contact you

We do not guarantee a turnaround time for tick testing. Everyone at BeBop Labs volunteers and it takes us a while to inventory each and every tick we receive. We also save money by sending our ticks to be tested in bulk during an off season like the dead of winter. And we raise money to provide tick testing free, this takes time too. Your health is the most important thing to us, so if you are concerned about disease transmission please send your tick directly to a testing lab.
BeBop Labs has yet to see any Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF) in NH. Dog ticks (Dermacentor variabilis) have been documented to carry this disease in the east as far north as Virginia. And due to climate change ticks that carry RMSF are moving north.
We will send your tick to our partnering tick testing lab, as soon as possible and we will ask you for a donation, $50/tick, or negotiated via email. All results will be forwarded to you, provided we receive an email address.
There are two panels one for blacklegged ticks (deer ticks, Ixodes scapularis) and one for Dog ticks (Dermacentor variabilis). Blacklegged ticks (deer ticks, Ixodes scapularis) – Borreliosis (Borrelia general species) – Lyme Disease (Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato, Borrelia mayonii) – Relapsing fever (Borrelia miyamotoi) – Anaplasmosis (Anaplasma phagocytophilum) – Babesiosis (Babesia microti) Dog ticks (Dermacentor variabilis) – Anaplasmosis (Anaplasma phagocytophilum) – Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (Rickettsia rickettsii) – Spotted Fever rickettsiosis (Rickettsia parkeri) – Ehrlichiosis (Ehrlichia chaffeensis, Ehlrichia ewingii) – Tularemia (Francisella tularensis) * We do not test for Cat scratch fever and trench fever (Bartonella henselae), Babesia duncani, Babesia divergens at this time ** We cannot test for tick-borne viruses due to our collection method using citizen scientists. Because virus testing requires RNA extraction and is temperature sensitive.
Currently we are prioritizing submitting all biting and crawling blacklegged ticks (deer ticks, Ixodes scapularis) for disease testing as we have found they have the highest prevalence of disease. Dog ticks (Dermacentor variabilis) ticks will be tested if we have enough funds, but are usually come back negative for disease testing.
